HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. (WSAV) – Media mogul Tyler Perry has agreed to build a new home for a 93-year-old South Carolina woman who refuses to sell her family's land to developers.Josephine Wright has faced a lengthy battle with the Bailey Point Investment Group, a Georgia-based firm that wants to construct a 147-unit neighborhood behind her home on Hilton Head Island in South Carolina. She claims the company is trying to force her to sell her land by using harassment tactics and a “frivolous lawsuit." Wright said the 1.8-acre parcel of land she owns has been in her family since just after the Civil War. Because of its rich history, Wright doesn't want to give it up. Here are some things to know before the Vikings host the San Francisco 49ers on Monday:49ers at VikingsWhen: 7:15 p.m. MondayWhere: U.S. Bank StadiumTV: ABC or ESPNRadio: KFANLine: 49ers – 6.5Over/Under: 44Keys for the Vikings— There should be an emphasis on trying to establish the run despite the fact the Vikings might be overmatched up front. If they don’t do that, the 49ers will be able to dial up their pass rush with regularity, which, in turn, could make life miserable for quarterback Kirk Cousins.— The best way for the Vikings to stymie a dynamic offense on the other end starts with pressuring young 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy. He showed last week that he’s capable of having a bad game as he lost for the first time as a starter. Maybe he’s turning back into a pumpkin. There’s no doubt that Vikings defensive coordinator Brian Flores will be bringing the blitz.Keys for the 49ers— If the 49ers find a way to impose their will up front, they will be in prime position to win this ...Vikings star T.J. Hockenson is a product of Tight End U. How did the Hawkeyes develop that reputation?

T.J. Hockenson was always going to wait for that scholarship offer from Iowa. Even after rival Iowa State made the first move. After growing up watching Dallas Clark star at tight end for the Hawkeyes in the early 2000s, Hockenson went on to play the same position a couple of hours away at Chariton High School. That made his college decision fairly simple.“I knew at a young age that was where I wanted to go,” Hockenson said. “Even though I wasn’t a big recruit, I think if I was, I still would’ve gone to Iowa.”Why wouldn’t he? There isn’t a better place for a tight end with hopes of making it to the NFL. The legacy started with Clark, who went on to play for the Indianapolis Colts, then continued with the likes of Scott Chandler, Brandon Myers and Tony Moeaki, all of whom were drafted after playing for the Hawkeyes. It has reached the pinnacle over the past decade or so with Iowa churning out a top prospect at tight end seemingly every yea...Injuries expose Wild’s salary cap issues early

Anyone who follows the Minnesota Wild knew the team would be hamstrung by a lack of salary cap space this season. Most, however, probably didn’t see it happening so soon.Starting last offseason, general manager Bill Guerin and the Wild started really paying for their decision to buy out the contracts of Zach Parise and Ryan Suter after the 2020-21 season — charged $14.7 million of dead space on this year’s $83.5 million salary cap.As a result, the Wild started the season with little room for trouble, and they’ve been handed plenty early with injuries to their best defenseman, Jared Spurgeon, second-leading goal scorer Matt Boldy and veteran blue liner Alex Goligoski. And while it’s being handled fairly well — the Wild are 2-2-1 headed into Tuesday night’s game against Edmonton at Xcel Energy Center — there is little question those buyouts are being felt.“It’s part of the game,” general manager Bill Guerin said Sunday. “And for a team in our situation, yeah, It can make it very diffic...One hospitalized, one in custody after Sunday afternoon shooting in Aurora

The first rainy weather that most Bay Area residents have seen in months marked yet another sign that autumn is in full swing, beyond the cluttered leaves on sidewalks and distinctly darker evening hours.By noon, the scattered morning showers had delivered just five-hundredths of an inch to Oakland, twelve-hundredths of an inch to San Francisco, a tenth of an inch to Concord and little to none in San Jose, according to National Weather Service officials.A moderate chance of thunderstorms up north in Butte, Mendocino and Shasta counties persisted into Sunday afternoon, but there’s nothing close to that on the Bay Area’s forecast.“We’re expecting the rain to basically taper off as the evening progresses, and by tomorrow morning it should be relatively past us,” said Dial Hoang, an NWS meteorologist in the Bay Area, who added that more precipitation might come down the Peninsula before next weekend. The light dose of rain served as a reminder of the colder months...Armed robbery reported in Walnut Creek after prearranged sale goes wrong: police
