Lawyers reveal estimated payment per person

(NEXSTAR) – Hoping the the massive Facebook privacy settlement is about to change your life? Don't hold your breath. Facebook parent company Meta recently agreed to pay $725 million to settle claims it violated users' privacy by sharing their data with third parties. But that pot of money needs to be divvied up among a huge group of people. ‘Largest number of claims ever filed’: 17M people validated to receive Facebook settlement payment In a court hearing on the lawsuit Thursday, class counsel revealed more than 28 million claims were filed before the deadline passed in August. Of those claims, about 17 million have been preliminarily validated so far. After attorneys' fees and administrative costs, the settlement amount is still huge – but it won't feel that way to the average person. Because there are so many eligible recipients, lawyers for the plaintiffs told Judge Vince Chhabria they expect the median payment to be around $30.An important thing to note is not ever...Dean's Reviews: 'My Big, Fat Greek Wedding 3'

AUSTIN (KXAN) -- A tent community in a heavily wooded area at Mabel Davis District Park in southeast Austin is raising some concerns for people in the area. "There's so much potential here and when you allow things to keep people from coming here, like the homeless people, it really ruins my neighborhood and it kind of sucks," Sonny Thomas, a life-long southeast Austin resident, said. Thomas grew up right next to the park and still goes to it as much as he can. He saw the park go from a rundown look to the nice park it is today, equipped with a skate park and a public pool. He now organizes community events at the park with his next event coming up right before Halloween this year with a skating competition for kids. He wants to see the homeless population removed from the park area. Safety concerns "They're creating problems. They caught the woods on fire over here. They found a dead homeless person just a month ago," Thomas explained. A person was found dead in the park on July 20...Cedar Park teen to be featured on Times Square jumbotron for Down syndrome walk

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Today's 98.3 TRY Social Dilemma came from Alexandria and it's about dogs and picking up after them. Here's her email: Get the latest news, weather, sports and more delivered right to your inbox! Hi Jaime. Here's my social dilemma. Is it right for a dog owner to walk onto your property and throw their dog ‘droppings’ (even if it’s bagged) into your trash can? My family member does it when he walks his dogs and doesn’t think it’s wrong. I find it annoying since left in the heat it can smell, plus I don’t want it in my trash-it's not my pet and you are walking up to the side of my house to dispose of it. Thoughts? AlexandriaI don't think it's right. No one should be walking on your property to throw anything away. If the can was at the end of the road and it was garbage day and the trash was yet to be picked up, then go for it, but any other time, I say no way. What do you think? Let me know on the TRY Facebook page.Latest news
