He was on an expedition to map the cave, which is the country’s third deepest.Dickey was too frail to climb out himself, so rescuers carried him with the help of a stretcher, making frequent stops at temporary camps set up along the way.“Mark Dickey is out of the Morca cave,” said a statement by the speleological federation. South Dakota regulators on Monday rejected a permit application for a proposed carbon dioxide pipeline through the state, dealing a fresh setback to the company behind the multistate project after North Dakota refused a siting permit for another leg there. The South Dakota Public Utilities Commission voted unanimously to turn down Summit Carbon Solutions’ application to build a 469-mile in-state route — part of an intended $5.5 billion, 2,000-mile pipeline network through five states. The decision complicates an already complex process for Summit Carbon Solutions as it seeks similar authorization in other states amid opposition from landowners and environmental groups. The proposed network would carry planet-warming carbon dioxide emissions from more than 30 ethanol plants in Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota and South Dakota for permanent underground storage in central North Dakota. After the South Dakota vote, Summit announced it intends “to refine its proposal and reappl...Judge convicts driver in St. Paul crash that killed 19-year-old passenger

Former Denver mayoral candidate and civil rights activist Terrance Roberts will receive a $50,000 settlement to resolve allegations that Denver police pepper-sprayed him without reason during a racial justice protest in July 2020.Attorneys for Roberts filed a lawsuit based on the incident last year. The suit named the city, former Denver police Chief Paul Pazen and three unidentified police officers as plaintiffs. The core allegation was that an officer targeted Roberts because he was leading a demonstration demanding police accountability amid the recent killings of Black and Brown people by police, including the May 2020 murder of George Floyd by police in Minneapolis. The demonstration also served as a counter-protest against a rally supporting police and President Donald Trump’s reelection bid.The Denver City Council approved the settlement agreement on Monday afternoon. It was the latest in a series of payments the council has approved to resolve legal claims tied to Denver...Upon Further Review: Broncos left points on the field in critical red zone situation

Throughout Russell Wilson’s somber news conference after Denver’s 17-16 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday, he kept echoing that the team was one or two plays away from winning its season opener.Yes, Denver’s penalties, special teams issues and defensive miscues down the stretch received most of the criticism. But the offense left points on the field, especially in a critical red zone situation early in the fourth quarter. With 10:19 to go in regulation, running back Samaje Perine bulldozed through the Raiders defense for a 12-yard run to Las Vegas’ 8-yard line. Suddenly, Denver stopped pounding the rock. Wilson’s pass to tight end Adam Trautman was short of the goal line. His throw to wide receiver Brandon Johnson was broken up by Raiders linebacker Divine Deablo, who could’ve intercepted the pass.Wilson’s third pass didn’t even have a chance, as he soared the ball out of bounds after getting pressured by Maxx Crosby. Denver settled for a 24-yard field goal from kicker Wil Lutz...Latest news
