Police investigating fatal north St. Louis County crash

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. - One person is dead after a fatal crash in north St. Louis County. County police were called to the scene at Halls Ferry and Lucas-Hunt Roads around 11:00 p.m. SaturdayUpon arrival, officers found a pickup truck had hit a sedan when it was turning onto Lucas and Hunt Road. The driver of the pickup, along with the driver and one of the passengers in the sedan, were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Once a St. Louis County subdivision, now a disc golf course One of the sedan passengers was declared dead at the scene. An 8-week-old pit bull apparently overdosed on fentanyl, Irvine police said, but they were able to revive her with Narcan.The puppy was found Sept. 6 inside a car in a Walmart parking lot. The couple in the car – a 29-year-old San Juan Capistrano man and a 27-year-old Santa Ana woman – subsequently were arrested on suspicion of narcotics possession.Officers said they initially saw paraphernalia and narcotics, including an open container of fentanyl, in the car.The pup appeared lethargic, closing her eyes and panting with her tongue sticking out, Irvine Police Sgt. Karie Davies said.Irvine police said they revived a pit bull puppy that apparently had overdosed on fentanyl last week. A man and woman were arrested on suspicion of drug possession.
