JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) — A landslide that ripped down a heavily forested mountainside in southeast Alaska killed a girl, injured a woman and left five other people missing as it smashed into three homes in a remote fishing community, authorities said Tuesday. Crews resorted to a cadaver-sniffing dog and heat-sensing drones to search for those still unaccounted for hours after the disaster. The slide — estimated to be about 450 feet (137 meters) wide — occurred at about 9 p.m. Monday during a significant rainstorm near Wrangell, an island community of 2,000 residents some 155 miles (250 kilometers) south of Juneau.Alaska State Troopers spokesperson Austin McDaniel said at a news briefing that three adults and two children are missing and that a girl was found dead during a quick search Monday night. DENVER (KDVR) — Four men were found shot dead at an Adams County home on Tuesday afternoon, investigators say.It happened in the 8400 block of Franklin Drive, according to an Adams County Sheriff's Office spokesperson. Responding deputies found a locked-up house, only to get inside and find four adults dead with what appeared to be gunshot wounds.Investigators believe the shooter is among the dead and died by suicide, according to the sheriff's office."This appears to be an isolated incident and there is no outstanding danger to the public," the sheriff's office posted on social media.Deputies were interviewing family and neighbors and were waiting to obtain a search warrant Tuesday night.FOX31 has a crew headed to the scene. Israel and Hamas have agreed a temporary cease-fire and prisoner-exchange deal, after Israel’s Cabinet voted to back the agreement overnight.Haaretz reports that under the deal, Hamas is expected to release 30 Israeli children and 20 women, of the around 240 hostages its militants kidnapped during their October 7 mass attack on Israel. In exchange, Israel would release 150 Palestinian prisoners being held in Israeli jails. An official told Haaretz that Hamas may also release foreign national hostages under deals reached with their countries.Under the deal, which was brokered with officials from Qatar acting as intermediaries, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said hostages who are not released will receive medicine and be visited by the Red Cross.The cease-fire is expected to last four or five days, according to reports. (CNN) — Israel’s cabinet has approved a breakthrough deal that would see the release of at least 50 hostages – women and children – from Gaza, according to an Israeli government statement, in what is expected to result in the first sustained pause in fighting and major de-escalatory step since Israel’s war with Hamas began.The freeing of the hostages will come in exchange for a four-day truce in Israel’s air and ground campaign in Gaza, the statement said. OCEANSIDE, Calif. -- A 27-year-old Vista Unified School District substitute teacher suspected of inappropriate activity with a 13-year-old girl was arrested over the weekend, authorities said.Conner Chanove, who is also a coach for the all-girls Seaside Water Polo Club in Carlsbad, was arrested Monday after the teen's mother allegedly found him with her daughter in a vehicle at Guajome Lake Park in Oceanside, Sgt.
