(AP) — A Missouri police chief who was forced to resign following allegations he assaulted a father who tried to drown his 6-month-old daughter has been sentenced to 18 years in prison for attacking his ex-wife during a domestic dispute, a prosecutor said. Greg Hallgrimson was sentenced Friday in the case in which authorities say he punched and knocked his ex-wife unconscious in June 2020, the Kansas City Star reported.Hallgrimson was chief of the Greenwood Police Department when a man walked into the department in December 2018 and said he had just tried to drown his daughter in a retention pond. Hallgrimson and another officer rushed to the icy pond and pulled the unconscious child out of the water. She was rushed to a hospital, where she was treated for severe hypothermia. (AP) — Michigan State athletic director Alan Haller said he has suspended an employee involved in allowing Adolf Hitler’s image to be shown on videoboards before playing No. 2 Michigan.The employee, who was not named, will be paid pending an investigation that will help to determine potential action in the future. CHICAGO — The first group of Ella French scholars were awarded Sunday and honored the legacy of fallen Chicago police Officer Ella French with an investment in the education of young people.Sadie Moussa is a senior at Taft High School and an aspiring emergency room nurse. CHICAGO — A Chicago organization that serves the blind held its annual fundraising run through the medical district on Sunday morning. The Rise to Shine run promotes health and inclusion. Sunday Brunch: Reclaimed Bar & Restaurant Four hundred people stepped up to the challenge. The race, in its second year, raised funds for the Chicago Lighthouse. ST. LOUIS - Making Strides Against Breast Cancer is more than just a walk. It's a movement to help save lives.Jamie Zografos is proud to be part of this movement. She beat breast cancer eight years ago.“I was 39. I was going in for breast augmentation because that's what you do when you're about to turn 40,” she joked. “I never had a mammogram, so it was my first mammogram that the surgeon wanted me to have before he did any work. “I was like, ‘Yeah, this is silly.’ But after the first mammogram is when they said, 'Yeah, things don't really look how they're supposed to.'”Despite two years of challenges and complications related to surgery, she never ended up needing radiation or chemotherapy.
