By MICHAEL R. SISAK and DANICA KIRKA (Associated Press)NEW YORK (AP) — Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan, were pursued by photographers in cars after a charity event in New York in an incident that the mayor and the couple’s office described as potentially dangerous and that instantly drew comparisons to the 1997 fatal car crash of Harry’s mother, Princess Diana. The NYPD did not provide immediate comment to describe or corroborate the royals’ statement about the incident. New York City Mayor Eric Adams told reporters he hadn’t received a full briefing about the incident yet, but he called it “reckless and irresponsible” for anyone to be chasing people in vehicles in the densely populated city, and said that “two of our officers could have been injured.”Harry and Meghan’s office said in a statement that the chase “resulted in multiple near collisions involving other drivers on the road, pedestrians and two NYPD officer...Blue Jays’ Jay Jackson admits to tipping pitches against Aaron Judge after side-eye controversy

TORONTO — After all the speculation, comments, coaching box theatrics and chants of “cheater” directed at Aaron Judge, demoted Blue Jays pitcher Jay Jackson admitted to tipping his slider against the Yankees slugger during a Monday night at-bat.“From what I was told, I was kind of tipping the pitch,” Jackson told The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal in a story that dropped after a tense Tuesday game between the Yankees and Blue Jays. “It was [less] my grip when I was coming behind my ear. It was the time it was taking me from my set position, from my glove coming from my head to my hip. On fastballs, I was kind of doing it quicker than on sliders. They were kind of picking up on it.”Rosenthal, citing Blue Jays’ sources, reported that Yankees first base coach Travis Chapman was able to see Jackson’s grip. Common sense indicates Chapman relayed what he gleaned to Judge on Monday.Pitching tipping through such natural means is perfectl...Aaron Judge’s statement homer, Domingo German’s sticky situation contribute to chaos in Yankees’ win over Jays

TORONTO — Aaron Judge’s wandering eyes dominated baseball’s news cycle following the Yankees’ Monday win over the Blue Jays. But it was Domingo German’s sticky fingers that grabbed headlines in Tuesday’s rematch before Judge ultimately commanded the spotlight again.German was ejected before taking the mound in the fourth inning of Tuesday’s game, a hectic 6-3 win for the Yankees. Umpires checked the starter’s hands and glove for foreign substances before conferring and then tossing the right-hander.YES Network footage showed a brown residue on German’s pants after he removed his right hand from his hips, but he said that came from chewing tobacco and insisted that he only used rosin. Umps begged to differ, as crew chief James Hoye calling German’s hand “the stickiest hand I’ve ever felt.”“It’s not rosin. It was definitely not rosin,” Hoye said, per a pool reporter. “Because I’...Department of Justice finds U.S. Attorney Rachael Rollins ethical breaches

A bombshell DOJ report alleges U.S. Attorney for Massachusetts Rachael Rollins improperly used her position by influencing the Suffolk DA’s race and broke agency rules by attending a fundraiser last summer. The report calls her out for attempting to tip the scales in last year’s Suffolk District Attorney race — where the Boston Globe ran stories she leaked to them before the primary. The Herald received similar information and refused to publish before the primary, according to the report.“We found Rollins’s conduct described throughout this report violated federal regulations, numerous DOJ policies, her Ethics Agreement, and applicable law, and fell far short of the standards of professionalism and judgment that the Department should expect of any employee, much less a U.S. Attorney,” the report issued by the Department of Justice’s Office of the Inspector General today concluded. The report adds: “We also concluded that Rollins falsely testified under oath during h...Sorry, Lakers: Rui Hachimura is not the answer to stopping Nuggets star Nikola Jokic

The Lakers emerged from their Game 1 loss with reasons to feel semi-good about their circumstances. But let’s not get crazy with the narrative that they’ve discovered the adjustment to upset the Nuggets. Because no, Rui Hachimura is not the Nikola Jokic stopper. We’re fully confident Jokic will figure this out. Here’s what led to this question: Jokic was a monster through three quarters of Denver’s 132-126 victory Tuesday night, then disappeared when Hachimura drew the assignment in the fourth. Hachimura, a 6-8 power forward, was strong enough to keep Jokic from backing down and imposing his will. It allowed Anthony Davis, who guarded Jokic for most of the previous possessions, to roam as an effective help defender.“I think it was a good plan, and I think the second half, we did a pretty good job on him,” Hachimura said.First, there’s a good chance Jokic was physically spent by the fourth quarter. He logged 42 minutes, tying a season-high...Gaslamp Promenade project blocking traffic on 5th Ave. moves forward
