OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Ryan Kalkbrenner was mostly invisible on the offensive end in Creighton’s opener and again in the first half against North Dakota State. But the eighth-ranked Bluejays made it a point to feed him the ball coming out of halftime Saturday, and the All-Big East center responded with a flurry that helped put away the Bison in an 89-60 win.“Everybody’s job is easier if we can establish him,” coach Greg McDermott said. “If you’re playing against Ryan Kalkbrenner, you’re scared to death of him because he’s so efficient once he catches it.”Creighton’s strategy in the first half was to emphasize mid-range and 3-point shooting to stretch out the Bison’s defense. NDSU didn’t budge, and Kalkbrenner got only one shot attempt and very few other touches. On the first possession of the second half, Kalkbrenner took an entry pass from Baylor Scheierman and converted it into an easy basket. Negotiations resumed Saturday between bargaining teams for the Andover Education Association and Andover School Committee after members voted to strike on Thursday night. The bargaining session followed a day of picketing outside of Andover schools, which were scheduled to be open Friday, as well as a community rally that drew more than 1,000 people to the Andover Town Common. In a statement, the Andover Education Association said, “Our strike vote has initiated the kind of bargaining we have wanted for months. We have a lot of ground to cover, but both sides are talking and that is because the community has voiced its support for what educators are fighting for. We want to be back in our classrooms as quickly as possible. NORTHFIELD — Two weeks ago, Hamilton-Wenham cross country coach Steve Sawyer brought his teams for an excursion to Northfield Mountain. Why?For research.Let’s just say the trip ultimately panned out well. Thanks to the Rich siblings, the Generals were able to make history. Grace Rich placed first in the girls’ 5K race with a time of 20:10.18, while her brother Ben placed sixth in the boys’ race (16:48.51), as Hamilton-Wenham took home a pair of MIAA Div. 3B titles Saturday.“I told somebody the other day that we were in the mix,” Sawyer said afterward. “You never know with a course like this. A lot of kids burn themselves out on the hill. I told my kids: ‘Be careful on the hill. The race starts at the top of the hill.’ I knew on paper, we were competitive. I never would have called a 1-2-3 by my girls. That came out of nowhere, but I knew we would be at the top. I knew we’d have four or five runners in the top-15, we ended up with four. So, we’re all very pleased.”Hamilton-Wenham dom...Als record nine turnovers to rout Argos in CFL East final
