Patrick Beverley finds his groove behind the arc — and with the ball in his hands — since joining the Chicago Bulls Patrick Beverley tries not to take it personally when he’s left wide open behind the 3-point arc.But games like Saturday’s 113-99 win over the Miami Heat make it hard. Every time the ball swung to Beverley, the defense sagged inside the arc, giving the Chicago Bulls point guard a wide swath of space to line up and fire off his shot.He missed the first few chances but finally made the Heat pay in the second quarter with four consecutive 3s as the Bulls built a 27-point lead. After the Bulls held off the Heat for a second straight win, Beverley hoped his five 3-pointers on the night served as a reminder that he should command a close-out.“I’m 38% career from the 3 over a decade,” Beverley said. “So no matter how well I shoot it, I think it’s the look of me that people want to leave me open. But I want to keep letting them do it.”Beverley’s self-assessment is accurate: He’s shooting at a 37.5% clip behind the arc for his career...

EAST REGION: The Boilermakers got a No. 1 seed for the fourth time, but Purdue was dumped by Fairleigh Dickinson in a near-historic upset. Els win on PGA Tour Champions, denies Langer record title NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. (AP) — Ernie Els kept making birdies no matter how he gripped the putter Sunday, and it carried him to a 6-under 65 to win the Hoag Classic and deny Bernhard Langer a chance at setting the career victory mark on the PGA Tour Champions.Els started the final round five shots behind Langer when the big South African rolled in three straight birdie putts to get in the mix, and he closed it out with a 65-yard bunker shot to 12 feet and a birdie on the 18th hole about the time Langer began to falter.Langer has 45 career wins on the PGA Tour Champions, tied for the most with Hale Irwin. Logano passes Keselowski on last lap, gives Ford Atlanta win HAMPTON, Ga. (AP) — Joey Logano and Brad Keselowski gave Atlanta and NASCAR a rare clean last-lap battle. For a change there were no late wreck. No overtime. Just a clean finish between hard racers. Logano dominated early and then passed Keselowski on the final lap to win NASCAR’s race at Atlanta Motor Speedway on Sunday and end the early season domination of Chevrolet and Hendrick Motorsports.Logano won the pole and led a strong showing of three straight Team Penske drivers in qualifying, but Keselowski looked like the Ford driver to beat late in the race. Keselowski had help from Corey LaJoie, but Logano got a push from Christopher Bell that proved decisive on the final lap. “It was lane versus lane, that’s what it was, inside versus outside,” Logano said, adding it was natural to expect that conflict would inevitably lead to contact.“Yeah, because it happens just about every time,” Logano said of Cup drivers propensity to wreck late in races. Bell finished third in a Toyota ...
